What should I expect at my first appointment?
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your appointment time. The first thing that will happen upon entering my office will be filling out health history forms. These forms will ask questions about your health, daily activity and your general massage preferences. Upon completing the forms, I will talk with you about what you are looking to get out of your massage session and work with you to create a massage that addresses areas of concern that is safe for what ever health conditions you may have. Once the massage session is discussed we will start your massage and you can lay down and relax.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. I own and operate 100% of this business so when you call or receive a massage you will always be dealing with me and only me. So if I am already with an appointment, there is no one else to help you. I am available 7 days a week by phone and e-mail to answer questions and schedule appointments.
What types of massage do you offer?
I offer Swedish, deep tissue, prenatal, myofascial release, sports, reflexology and chair (off-site only) massages. Because every massage I do is customized to you, a massage session can be done using one technique or many. Many of my clients prefer to do deep tissue on just one or two areas and relax with a Swedish massage the remainder of the session. It’s completely up to you.
Do I have to completely undress for my massage?
No. You should undress to the level you are comfortable. Most get completely undressed. However, if removing all your clothes makes you too nervous and unable to relax, then you are not getting the optimal benefit from the session. Once you are on the table and covered with a sheet and blanket the massage will start. I will only uncover the part of your body being worked on. Private areas will never, under any circumstances, be uncovered.
Do I have to listen to ocean waves?
This question always makes me laugh. To answer it simply, no. I provide a variety of instrumental relaxing music all of which are ocean wave free. However, this is your massage session and you may play anything that you find relaxing. I use an ipod dock and also have a AUX jack so if there is something you would like to listen to, feel free to bring it with you. I have done massage to a wide variety of music from country to the Rolling Stones. Feel free to bring what makes you relax.
What do I do during a massage?
Make yourself comfortable. If I need you to adjust your position, I will either move you or ask you to move what is needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It’s up to you. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax.
